Transitioning from Summer to Fall

August 29, 2022

The summer is winding down. Can you feel it?

As August comes to an end and Fall peeks around the corner…

how do you make your seasonal transition?

August and September are such busy months in our house. The shop is relatively slow in August as people beat the heat by escaping out of town, get in those last-of-the-summer vacation trips, and hustle to get prepared for school to begin again. Between getting our sons ready to start 7th (!) grade and the holiday season coming up quickly for the shop, it’s easy for me to get overwhelmed and stalled when I try to get my motivation going to make the transition from summer to fall.

Today, I posted on the shop Instagram about feeling stuck in place after a weekend out of town, and not knowing how to get started again. To say that I have some of the best, most supportive customers and friends is an understatement! Y’all had some very helpful suggestions on how to flip that switch: meditation (this was the number one suggestion), getting outside, making a list that includes something I already accomplished (so I could mark something off right away), naps, and just slowing down and taking things one at a time. My sweet neighbor even came over, knocked on my door and said, “Erin, put on your shoes. We are walking around the block.” She knew exactly what I needed: someone to just kick my butt and make me go for a walk.

The other thing I noticed in the responses was a sense of connection. It’s so easy to feel isolated when we feel overwhelmed and the fact that so many of you chimed in and expressed solidarity, made me feel seen and supported. Social media is such an emotional drain sometimes, but it can also be a source of connection and friendship. I think we are all ready for a little more connection after the last few years.

Currently, I’m crafting some ideas for Fall/Winter and they all have connection in mind. I already make the shop available to the community for tarot and astrology readings and I want to expand from there. I’m working on putting together ideas for some small gatherings and classes, looking at opening the space for others to do the same, and tossing around the idea of starting a small-group Mystical Book Club.

Quick & Tasty Migas

When I posted this picture on our Instagram, I got so many responses from y’all asking for the recipe, so I decided to include it here! Please note that I don’t usually measure my ingredients, so feel free to add/remove anything you want to and measure with your heart. I hope you enjoy this as much as my family does. Also, this is not a traditional recipe; it’s just my take
